Why Catholic

Do you want to know the truth?

If you seek the truth, eventually you will find that the narrowest gate is through the Catholic faith. Catholics believe that God created us all equal, that every life matters, and calls us to love everyone just as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ did. No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, know that you are not alone and you are loved.

Catholicism is the universal church, founded by Christ, Jesus said to Peter, “You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it” Matthew 16:18 and “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 16:19 Peter was the first Pope and there is a direct line of apostolic succession starting from St. Peter himself all the way to the current Pope in the Catholic Church. There are also so many great saints who lived incredible lives; you can spend an entire lifetime learning about them. Being Catholic is amazing!

Catholics have all 7 Sacraments instituted by Christ, including one of the most important Sacraments of all: The Eucharist. Catholics believe that Jesus is in truly present in the Eucharist (body, blood, soul and divinity). Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.” John 6:53-56

This teaching is tough to fully comprehend, even Jesus lost many disciples that very moment. “Jesus said to the Twelve, “Will you also go away?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go?” John 6:67-68 Does it make sense in our human minds? Probably not, it clearly didn’t to some of those who heard it from Jesus himself. This teaching requires a leap of faith. Jesus taught it; therefore we believe.

Do we believe anyone who isn’t Catholic is going to hell? NO! The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that although we are bound by the sacraments, God himself is not bound by them and therefore all things are possible for God even saving someone outside the sacraments of the church. We just feel passionate about the Catholic faith and believe it’s the fullest sense of the truth and we want to share that message to the world. There is a treasure chest of extra grace found in the Sacraments and we want everyone to have access to it, just as Jesus intended when he created his Church. He did not create hundreds of different Christian denominations. He created one holy, Catholic and apostolic Church.

“Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” Matthew 10:8
